Community Health Services in Nevis currently holding Vaccination for farmers

As the federation continues to celebrate Vaccination Week in The Americas (VWA), the Community is currently offering vaccine services to the public throughout the week.

The initiative is in an effort to offer protection to the community especially farmers with the DT (Diphtheria and Tetanus) Vaccine.

Tetanus and diphtheria can be found in soil and animal manure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Tetanus is a life-threatening disease of the nervous system, caused by a toxin-producing bacterium. Severe complications of tetanus can be life-threatening while diphtheria can lead to difficulty breathing, heart rhythm problems, and death.

Persons wishing to get vaccinated can visit any health centre on the island until Friday, April 28th, 2023 from 8am to 4pm. Additionally,  the Ministry of Health’s bus will be at the Department of Agriculture at Prospect, to administer vaccines.
