CoVID-19: Department of Maritime Affairs issues statement urging boat operators to take steps

In light of the CoVID-19 pandemic, the risk of infections remains very high for St. Kitts and Nevis.

With respect to the above mentioned, the Department of Maritime Affairs strongly urges all captains and crew of passenger ferries, water taxis, catamarans, dive boats and sport fishing vessels operating in the Coastal Waters of St. Kitts and Nevis to take immediate steps to prevent and reduce the risk of the Corona Virus.

According to a release from the Ministry, these steps must include but should not be limited to:

a) Having the necessary equipment (face masks, napkins/tissue and gloves) in case someone is showing symptoms on board such as coughing, sneezing, runny nose etc.

b) Hand sanitizers and effective cleaning agents……

 c) Wiping and cleaning of seats and frequently touched areas on-board after each trip……

 d) Ensure less crowding on-board as far as possible or create more space as practicable per passenger.
