Deadline for filing declarations of income, etc. is April 30th 2024

“All public officials who are governed by the integrity in public life act cap 22.18 as amended, are hereby reminded that Tuesday, the 30th day of April, 2024 is the deadline for the filing of declarations of income, assets, liabilities, and special interests for the period 1st January, 2023, to 31st December, 2023.”

That’s the word from the Office of the Integrity Commission St. Kitts and Nevis.

In a press release dated Monday March 4th 2024, the Commission mentioned that “public officials who resigned or retired or who otherwise demitted office after the 20th day of April, 2023, are required to file declarations with the integrity commission up to 2 years after demitting office.”

Persons in key positions of Government (such as Ministers of Government, Permanent Secretaries) are required to file their respective declarations of Income, Assets, and Liabilities, under the Integrity in Public Life (IPL) Act.

This is in an effort to eliminate corruption for persons holding public office positions in the Federation. Under the IPL Act, failure to file will result in potential fines of up to EC $30,000.00 or imprisonment for up to three years.
