Dr. Douglas slams claims of being detained by authorities in the United Kingdom

On Tuesday, 26th November 2019, a Facebook posting alleged that Former Prime Minster of St. Kitts and Nevis and leader of the Opposition St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) Dr. the Hon. Denzil Douglas was arrested and detained in London.

The post further indicated that UK Border Control officials inspected Dr. Douglas’ bags and some ninety eight thousand dollars ($98,000) was found which was well over the limit travelers are allowed to travel with.

The post noted that the bags and sums of money which were of various currencies were confiscated and that a money laundering investigation into the incident has begun.

The VONNEWSLINE spoke to the Opposition leader on Thursday 27th November who vehemently denied the allegations.

The Former Prime Minister further outlined why his political opponents were trying to tarnish his character and reputation.

He lamented that he is seeking legal action on the matter.
