The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis (or the Federal Government) “condemns the recent dangerous attacks using drones and missiles on the United Arab Emirates, which constitute violation of international law.”
The UAE reported strikes on ships in the vital channel, the Strait of Hormuz, last Monday. It also said a fire broke out at the oil port of Fujairah after an Iranian attack and it said it intercepted 15 missiles and four drones fired from Iran.
In the Federal Government’s statement, it reads: “We reaffirm our commitment to the principles of international peace, respect for territorial integrity, and the sanctity of human life. Further, we reaffirm the importance of safeguarding maritime security, the preservation of the marine environment, global energy, and international trade.”
“Saint Kitts and Nevis stands in solidarity with the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates and others who have been negatively affected by the recent attacks”, the Government said. Saint Kitts and Nevis urged all stakeholders “to engage in constructive dialogue that will lead to lasting peace, in the interest of the people and for the benefit of the region.”
The attacks on Monday marked the first time the UAE has been targeted since Iran and the United States agreed to a ceasefire on April 8th. Iran has denied the UAE’s accusations.
