October is designated as the month of Older Persons.
The overall umbrella theme for the UN International Day of Older Persons for 2022 is “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World.”
In honour of the month long observance, Junior Minister of Social Development et. Al, the Hon. Isalean Phillip made this comment in an address she issued on Saturday, October 1st:
According to un.org, the theme for this year aims to highlight the resilience of older women in the face of environmental, social, economic and lifelong inequalities; raise awareness of the importance of improved world-wide data collection, disaggregated by age and gender; and calls on United Nation (UN) member states, entities, women, and civil society to include older women in the center of all policies, ensuring gender equality.
