Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs comments on recent resignation of Armenian President over having SKN Passport
Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs comments on recent resignation of Armenian President over having SKN Passport
Those were comments from Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Mark Brantley on the recent resignation of the Armenia President, Armen Sarkissian, for holding a St. Kitts and Nevis Passport.
According to Hetq.am an investigative news outlet, the President resigned after they learned of his illegal Citizenship.
In light of this, how will the President’s sudden departure affect St. Kitts and Nevis?
Mr. Brantley gave this response:
According to Hetq.am, Sarkissian held a SKN Passport as late as 2017, shortly before his election the following year.
Under Article 124 of the Armenian Constitution, the President must have held citizenship of only the Republic of Armenia for the preceding six years.
Therefore, all of the decrees signed by Sarkissian to date, including various laws and the appointment of public officials, are illegal documents.
