The Federal Ministry of Education announced a policy on cell phone use in schools, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a focused learning environment.
According to the Ministry, all students are required to turn off their cell phones upon entering the school compound and ensure that devices remain out of sight throughout the school day.
Officials warn that any phone that is seen or heard during school hours will be confiscated. The policy also makes it clear that cell phones are strictly prohibited in examination rooms, as part of measures to uphold academic integrity.
In cases where devices are confiscated, the Ministry says phones will be returned to parents upon request or to students at the end of the school term. Parents are being encouraged to contact schools directly if they need to reach their children during the day.
Likewise, students are advised to report to the school office if they need to make contact with their parents. The Ministry says these guidelines are designed to reduce distractions, support discipline, and promote a more productive teaching and learning environment across schools in the Federation.
