Former Governor General and Attorney General of St. Kitts-Nevis passes

Former Governor General and Attorney General of St. Kitts-Nevis, His Excellency Sir Samuel Weymouth Tapely Seaton GCMG, CVO, KC, JP, LLD has passed away.

 

 

 

In 1980, he took on the St. Kitts-Nevis Attorney General role, serving until 1995. In 1988, he was appointed as one of Her Majesty’s Counsels. He became acting governor-general after the ouster of his predecessor Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence on 20th May 2015. On September 1st 2015, he was officially appointed governor-general by Queen Elizabeth II on the advice of former Prime Minister Hon. Timothy Harris.

 

 

 

In a statement, Prime Minister Hon, Dr. Terrance Drew offered his condolences and gratitude to Sir Seaton’s contribution to the nation. He was quoted as saying “The government of St. Kitts and Nevis is indeed grateful for his unwavering commitment to nation building over the years. His Excellency has positively impacted the lives of many throughout his career and will be deeply missed.
