The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis is reminding citizens, residents, and businesses that several cost-of-living relief measures remain in effect through July 31st, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to ease financial pressures caused by rising global prices.

Among the measures is the waiver of bunker and shipper surcharges from customs duty and tax calculations.

The initiative was introduced in April as part of the government’s economic relief package and is intended to reduce the impact of increasing international fuel and freight costs on imported goods.

By excluding these surcharges from customs valuations, the government has lowered the tax burden on imports, creating opportunities for savings to be passed on to consumers.

Additional relief measures currently in place include a 50 percent reduction in the excise tax on gasoline, a reduction in the Customs Service Charge on gasoline from six percent to three percent, and the removal of VAT on qualifying alternative energy equipment.

Officials say the measures are designed to help stabilize prices, support households and businesses, and strengthen economic resilience across the Federation.
