The Federal Government is set to launch “Summer of Intervention 2026,” a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing youth vulnerability to crime. During a recent media appearance, Programme Director, Hance Richards outlined the main reason for the programme:
Richards explained that the programme targets up to 2,500 young people aged 13 to 25, offering structured activities such as job training, sports, and mentorship.
Providing context, Richards said the initiative is grounded in a public health approach that treats crime and violence as preventable, using data and epidemiological methods to address root causes such as mental health challenges and social pressures.
The programme also emphasizes collaboration, bringing together government, community groups, and families.
