GSS teachers dominate Fun in the Sun Run

The Nevis Health Promotion Unit joined in global efforts in the recognition of World Obesity Day (WOD).

 

 

 

On Nevis, business representatives from across the island competed in a World Obesity Day Road Relay through the streets of Charlestown on March 1st. The event began at the entrance of the Best Buy Supermarket in Charlestown and ended at the Simeon Daniel’s Bust.

 

 

 

Taking first place was the Gingerland Secondary School teachers, in second place was Carbon and placing third was the Police Force. The other teams included the Alexandra Hospital, Department of Sports-Nevis, Taiwan-ICDF, the Immigration Rockets, and NEVLEC.

 

 

 

World Obesity Day was created for unified action that calls for a cohesive, cross-sector response to the obesity crisis. It takes place March 4th and is convened by the World Obesity Federation in collaboration with its global members.

 

 

 

Hundreds of individuals, organisations and alliances contribute to World Obesity Day every year, engaging hundreds of thousands of people across the world.
