The island of Nevis will join the rest of the world in celebration of International Women’s Day (today) Wednesday, March 8th, 2023.

The theme for this year is “Digit All- Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.

The day celebrates “women’s achievements, raises awareness about discrimination and encourages people to take action to drive gender parity”.

The events slated for the day on Nevis include a women’s self-empowerment workshop at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park.

According to the Department of Gender Affairs on Nevis, the public is encouraged to wear yellow or purple (today) Wednesday to honour the day.

A group that seeks to highlight women through varied job opportunities such as painting, construction etc., has sought to encourage and remind the Nevisian public, that “if a man can do it, a woman can do it too”, in terms of jobs.
