Junior Minister of Health speaks on World Obesity Day
Nevis has joined the rest of the world in celebrating World Obesity Day. Traditionally celebrated on March 4th, World Obesity Day creates an opportunity to increase awareness, encourage advocacy, improve policies and share experiences of those suffering from obesity.
Nevis’ Junior Minister of Health the Hon. Hazel Brandy Williams issued a statement in commemoration of the day.
Obesity, according to the CDC, is weight that is higher than what is considered as a healthy weight for a given height. Mrs. Brandy Williams also spoke on some of the factors that would make obesity difficult to manage:

Awareness activities that took place to honour the day include a Capacity Building Consultation with Nurses and Health Educators as well as a Road Relay dubbed “A Fun Run in the Sun” planned by the Ministry of Health and Gender Affairs.
