Leader’s and MP’s honour Former Premier – Vance Amory in Special Sitting of Nevis Island Assembly  

A Special Sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly was held on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022 to mark the passing of Former Premier, His Excellency, Ambassador Vance Amory at the Assembly’s Chambers in Charlestown.  

 

The sitting featured remarks from Former Prime Ministers, Dr. The Right Excellent and Right Hon. Sir Kennedy Simmonds, The Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas; Former Premier of Nevis the Hon. Joseph Parry and Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Shawn Richards. 

 

 

Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, former members of the Nevis Island Assembly, Mrs. Jean Nisbett-Harris, Mr. Livingston Herbert and the Hon. Eric Evelyn (who in 2017 became the Area Representative of Nevis #3, Gingerland, which is also the District Mr. Amory represented for over 30 years) made these comments:

 

 

The Honourables Troy Liburd; Hazel Brandy-Williams; Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds; Spencer Brand; Alexis Jeffers and Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, had this to say:

 

 

Mr. Amory served Nevis as Premier between 1992 and 2006 and between 2013 and 2017.

 

He passed away on April 2nd, 2022 from a terminal illness. 

 

The Official Period of Mourning in respect of the passing of Vance Amory will be from Wednesday, 20th April to Saturday, 30th April, 2022.
