Lent week to come close with Church Service on Nevis

As the season of Lent comes to a close, celebrations still continue on the island of Nevis.

Lent is a period recognized in the Christian Faith, symbolizing the 40 days Jesus Christ spent in the wilderness fasting. This year, the season began on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, and will end on Thursday, April 6th also to be acknowledged as Holy Thursday.

Throughout Lent, a number of mid-week church services were held on the island dedicated for prayer and reflection. When speaking to the VON NEWSLINE, Chairperson of the Nevis Christian Council Renewal Committee, Arch Deacon Isaiah Phillip spoke on the last service to be held.

The special event will take place on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 at the St. Pauls’ Anglican Church at 7pm.

Arch Deacon Phillip stressed on the importance of the final service especially being just before the commencement of the Easter weekend on Friday, April 7th. The general public is invited to attend the service.
