Man receives 27 years for the murder of his companion

A man was sentenced to almost thirty (30) years in prison last Wednesday (January 25th), for the murder of his companion.

 

 

 

According to a Police Communiqué issued on January 31st 2023, Wayne Chapman of Hanley’s Road, Nevis, otherwise known as ‘Spyer’, was sentenced to twenty-seven (27) years in prison.

 

 

 

Chapman, 57, was found guilty by a majority verdict on December 9th, 2022 for the murder of 45-year-old Shirley Dawn Morton. The incident occurred on January 21st, 2018 at Buck Hill, Nevis.

 

 

 

Following her death, Chapman was on the run for a few days as he was wanted by police for questioning. Eventually, lawmen captured him in Taylor’s Pasture, Gingerland.

 

 

 

The sentence commenced when his remand started five (5) years ago.
