Marked increase in number of domestic violence cases, since days of lockdown

Junior Minister of Gender Affairs here on Nevis, the Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams.

St. Kitts and Nevis joined the world in observing International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25^th, 2020.

Gender-based violence refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms, unhcr.org says.

In her address, Minister Brandy-Williams stated that Gender-based violence is a threat:
