Ministry of Community Development Nevis to Host Its Annual Christmas Cultural Market

 

That was Acting Director of the Department of Community Development, Ms. Denesia Smithen, speaking on the upcoming Christmas Cultural Market, formerly known as “Miracle on Main Street”. The event is scheduled for Friday December 20th, at the D. R. Walwyn Plaza in Charlestown. It forms part of the department’s list of activities for the month of December, dubbed: “A Christmas to Remember”.

 

The VON Newsline has learnt that there will be various cultural displays such as: masquerade, clowns, string band music, big drum and mocko jombie and will be done by different community groups, including schools, and the Nevis Cultural Development Foundation (NCDF).

 

Ms. Smithen emphasized the need for Nevisian culture to be kept alive and is one of the main reasons for the market. Also, it would give persons the chance to enjoy traditional Christmas drinks, foods, and pastries that will be on sale. Other activities will include giveaways and “Santa Corner” for the children.

 

Additionally, on Saturday December 21st, the department will have a free Movie Night at the War Memorial Square where persons will be able to watch the movie: “Elf” featuring Will Farrel.
