Ministry of Tourism urges persons to refrain from collecting stones for sites
The Ministry of Tourism on Nevis has released a Statement urging members of the public to refrain from taking stones meant to be used at various historical site on the island.
The statement spoke of an observed practice where persons are involved in the removal and transportation of stones being used for the restoration of heritage sites, historical sites and forts on Nevis and more specifically Fort George.
Persons have been asked to halt such activity immediately.
The Ministry went on to say that it wishes to uphold the value of the sites and to carry out the project without these kind of challenges. Persons are reminded that if they are caught carrying out such practices, they will be persecuted according to the full extent of the law.
