NDMD Director speaks on island’s readiness for 2024 Hurricane Season

As the island of Nevis continues to prepare itself during the onset of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, the Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) continues in its efforts to better equip itself in the event of an impact.

 

 

 

Along with ensuring the various emergency shelters on the island are ready for use and testing the preparedness levels of residents in the communities, representatives of the department also attended the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Annual Hurricane Season Press Conference, where Executive Director, Ms. Elizabeth Riley outlined the agency’s readiness to respond to the needs of member states in the event of disasters during what is predicted to be an above-normal Atlantic Hurricane Season.

 

 

 

According to the NDMD Director, Mr. Brian Dyer, the conference served as a medium to discuss the region’s plans in the face of the above normal season being predicted:
