Several reports have come to the fore about the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), having dissent from within its organization.

The VONNEWSLINE attempted to contact NRP’s Leader, Dr. Janice Daniel-Hodge, but to no avail. However, Hon. Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds of the NRP, spoke with the VONNEWSLINE and stated (and I quote), “neither the leadership of the Opposition, nor the Leadership of the party, is in dispute.” End quote.

Furthermore, several reports have been circulating on social media about Mrs. Stapleton-Simmonds being asked to join the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM), who is in power, to form a coalition.

Mrs. Stapleton-Simmonds responded to the aforementioned allegation and said “that it is absolutely false, I am not aware of anyone from CCM reaching out to me, to form any type of coalition.”

The reports came following the Opening Session of the Nevis Island Assembly on Thursday, Jan 19th, where Members of Parliament (MP’s) on both the Government and Opposition benches were sworn in. It comes on the heels of the Dec. 12th, 2022 Nevis Island Assembly Elections, in which CCM won 3 of the 5 seats, while NRP won 2.
