Nevis’ Burglary incident: Successful surgery for mother and child following stabbing
Police have confirmed to the VONNEWSLINE that a burglary occurred here on Nevis over the weekend, which resulted in Saskia Maynard of Hanley’s Road, sustaining a number of non-life threatening stab wounds to the front of her body and abdomen.
Ms. Maynard, who was pregnant, was attacked by a masked assailant. She has been warded at the Alexandra Hospital.
In an update about the situation on Monday Feb. 10th, a police spokesperson told the VONNEWSLINE that Ms. Maynard, who was seven months pregnant, underwent emergency surgery to deliver the baby. The surgery was successful. The mother and child are reported to be in a stable condition.
Currently, there are no suspects in custody.
