Nevis Disaster Management Committee holds 1st meeting for 2022 to bolster disaster preparedness 

The first meeting of the Nevis Disaster Management Committee held for 2022 was on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022.

 

All Committees, Sub-Committees and Agencies were to provide a written report of its status, activities and plans for this year. 

 

This also forms part of the Nevis Disaster Management Department’s (NDMD) effort in enhancing comprehensive preparedness and strategic planning processes with the aim to mitigate disaster losses. 

 

Considering the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season which began on Wednesday June 1st and will run until November 30th, NDMD’s Director, Brian Dyer, spoke of the number of shelters available on the island (over 20) inter-alia. 

 

In attendance were Senior Government officials from various Ministries and stakeholders of the NDMD.
