What is the time frame an individual would have, regarding the fine imposed, if a person contravenes the Statutory Rules and Orders (SRO) No. 16 of 2020 Emergency Powers (CoVID-19) (No. 7) Regulations?
That’s a question the VONNEWSLINE posed to Superintendent of Nevis Division “C” of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Mr. Lyndon David.
According to Section 19 of the SRO No. 16 Regulations, “a person who contravenes or fails to comply with these Regulations shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding five thousand dollars or a term of imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or to both and to forfeiture of any goods or money in respect of which the offence has been committed.”
However, no time is specified in this section.
The Superintendent provided this explanation, in light of the aforementioned.
