The X-Ray Unit of the Alexandra Hospital here on Nevis, has a new Direct Radiography (DR) system, which is expected to be less tedious for members of the public.
According to sciencedirect.com, the system uses x-ray–sensitive plates to directly capture data during the patient examination, immediately transferring it to a computer system without the use of an intermediate cassette.
Junior Minister of Health here on Nevis, the Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams, officially commissioned the new system last Friday October 11th.
According to the Minister, the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) would have spent approximately US $42,000 dollars to improve the system at the Radiology Unit.
Radiography is the process or occupation of taking radiographs (x-rays) to assist in medical examinations.
