Nevis’ Ministry of Gender Affairs seeks to raise awareness of Gender-based violence through campaign

A campaign to highlight gender-based violence, will commence on November 25th 2020, taking into account International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. 

 

Gender-based violence refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms, unhcr.org says. 

 

Nevis Junior Minister of Gender Affairs, the Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams, recently spoke of the campaign: 

 

 

The theme for the UN’s 16 days of activism against Gender-based violence, is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect”, according to unwomen.org. 

 

Minster Brandy Williams added that the issue must be dealt with:
