Nevis’ Premier issues statement on passing of former Governor General

Nevis’ Premier, the Hon. Mark Brantley has issued a statement of Condolence on the Passing of Former Governor-General His Excellency S.W. Tapley Seaton GCMG, CVO, KC, JP, LLD.

 

 

 

“On behalf of the Nevis Island Administration and the people of Nevis I extend deepest condolences to the family of the late Sir Tapley Seaton who functioned in the highest constitutional office of Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis”, the statement reads.

Premier Brantley said “his life was a life spent in service to the people of our beloved country and region. From our first and youngest Attorney General on our achievement of nationhood, to his service at the Bar, to crafting the Constitution of St. Christopher and Nevis, to his service with legal education in the Caribbean, to his ascension to the high office of Governor General, Sir Tapley’s life was an exemplar of public service.”

 

 

 

Meantime, the Federal Cabinet has requested that the National Flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis be flown at half-mast at all Government buildings and establishments throughout the Federation effective June 30th 2023 in tribute to His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton.

 

 

 

The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis and the entire nation mourn the loss of this son of the soil who gave yeoman service to his nation and the wider Caribbean region. The National Flags of Saint Kitts and Nevis will be flown at half-mast until the day of his burial. His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton will be afforded a State Funeral at a time and place to be determined by his family. Sir Tapley Seaton passed away on Thursday 29th June 2023.
