On October 5th, the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) received a monetary donation from the Republic of China (Taiwan) for “an important capital project on Nevis”.

That is according to Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley who attended the handover ceremony.

Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Michael Lin, presented a cheque to Prime Minster, Dr. Terrance Drew who in turn presented the cheque to Mr. Brantley.

According to Mr. Brantley, in a private meeting after the handover, “both Prime Minister Drew and I [Mr. Brantley] reiterated our commitment to ensuring that the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration continue to work closely for the advancement of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis”.

In response to the financial assistance, Mr. Brantley stated “I wish to publicly thank Prime Minister Drew for his stated and demonstrated commitment to greater cooperation and for facilitating this significant contribution to the further development of Nevis and by extension the wider Federation…

…I also wish to publicly thank our dear friend the Republic of China (Taiwan) for continuing not only to be a friend to St. Kitts and Nevis but demonstrating that they are truly our best friend internationally.”
