The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) is set to commence the drilling phase of Nevis’ geothermal project in June 2023.

This was announced at the new Cabinet’s ceremonial inauguration on Sunday during Premier Mark Brantley’ address. As Minister of Public Utilities and Energy, Mr. Brantley revealed that the drilling will comprise three production wells and two injection wells at Hamilton.

He also stated that since the start of such discussions dating as far back as 2004, this is the furthest development the project has seen.

Also bringing the topic to the National budget debate, Minister Brantley spoke on the potential creation of a new industry that has the potential to propel efforts at economic diversification forward and ease the heavy reliance on the Citizenship by Investment program.
