“The Resilience and Contributions of Older Women”.
That is the theme for the 2022 International Day of Older Persons. Celebrated on Saturday, October 1st, the day also serves as the beginning of a month long of celebrations for Older Persons.
According to un.org, the theme for this year aims to highlight the resilience of older women in the face of environmental, social, economic and lifelong inequalities; raise awareness of the importance of improved world-wide data collection, dis-aggregated by age and gender; and calls on United Nation (UN) member states, entities, women, and civil society to include older women in the center of all policies, ensuring gender equality.
To commemorate the month’s observance, the St. Kitts and Nevis Department of Community Development and Social Services will be holding a special Church Service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30th, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Sandy Point, St. Kitts.
The overall theme for the UN International Day of Older Persons for 2022 is “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World.”
