New CT Scanner Housing enclosure being installed for Alexandra Hospital

A new CT scanning machine housing enclosure was installed at the Alexandra Hospital, on Wednesday, August 10th.

This revelation was made by Senior Minister of Health on Nevis, Premier Mark Brantley.

A computerized tomography (CT) scan, according to the nhs.uk, uses X-rays and a computer to create detailed images of the inside of the body. CT scans are sometimes referred to as CAT scans or computed tomography scans.

In Mr. Brantley’s announcement he was quoted as saying “the addition of this piece of equipment will be a first for Nevis and will take the diagnostic capabilities of our hospital to the next level and ensure that our patients and medical staff have access to first class diagnostics.”

In 2020, Junior Minister of Health on Nevis, Hazel Brandy-Williams, revealed the NIA planned to purchase a CT scanner, at a cost of approximately US$1.2 million.
