Following the incident, Minister of Culture-St. Kitts (responsible for Carnival), Samal Duggins, expressed “deepest sympathies” to the families and friends of the deceased and made an appeal to drivers in a statement, saying “slow down” and drive not only for yourself but for those around you.”

Citizen Security Secretariat also urged road users to exercise caution and responsibility. Its Coordinator, Eartha Carey, implored “everyone to make responsible choices on the road.” People’s Action Movement (PAM’s) Leader, Natasha Grey-Brookes, said “our nation mourns… I offer my prayers and support to all those that are affected.”

Police said three persons in the accident: two were bus passengers and one was the passenger from the other vehicle. This has taken SKN’s road fatality number to 9 so far for the year and comes on the heels of the Federation recording a double road fatality on Friday Dec. 6th.
