New NIA Cabinet sworn into office

A new cabinet of Ministers forming the Nevis Island Administration was sworn into office on Sunday, December 18th 2022.

 

 

 

Premier of the Island, Hon. Mark Brantley who was sworn in prior on December 14th, now hold the ministerial portfolios of Minister of Finance, Statistics, Economic Planning, Human Resources, Industry, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Tourism, Public Utilities and Energy, Foreign Investments, Government Information and Nevis Television.

 

 

 

Deputy Premier, Hon Eric Evelyn presently hold the portfolios of Deputy Premier, Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Natural Resources, Fisheries, Cooperatives, Culture, and Housing. Representative for Nevis Electoral District #1 Hon. Spencer Brand was sworn in as Minister of Communications, Works, Water Services, Physical Planning and Environment, Posts, Labour, and Disaster.

 

 

 

Also sworn in were the Hon. Troy Liburd and Hon. Jahnel Nisbett. Mr. Liburd’s ministerial responsibilities include Education, Information Technology, Library Services, Youth, and Sports while Ms. Nisbett’s ministerial responsibilities are Health, Gender Affairs, Community Affairs, and Social Services. During his address at the ceremony, Premier Brantley said his administration will be engaging and inclusive but will not turn a blind eye to undermining.

 

 

 

Meanwhile the opposition Nevis Reformation Party staged a silent protest in the streets outside where the celebration was held.
