Approximately six (6) years ago, an early morning fire gutted the previous structure that housed the abovementioned Departments as well as Philatelic Bureau, thus the NIA took a decision to rebuild the facility.

The reconstruction project began in October, 2017 and was earmarked for completion between 18 and 24 months.

With respect to funding for the project, EC$6.5 million dollars was funded by the Sugar Industry Diversification Fund (SIDF) and EC$1.5 million dollars was funded by the NIA, totaling $8 million dollars.
