The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) has purchased land to allow for the expansion of the Bath Cemetery. In 2020, rumours were spreading on the radio and social media that the land, close to the Bath Cemetery was acquired, in order to construct an official residence for the Premier.

However, Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Mark Brantley, explains:

The cost of the land was almost $US 80,000 per acre, according to the Premier.
