Following a recent statement made by Junior Minister of Health, the Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams, that “space is running out” at the landfill at Low Ground here on Nevis, the VONNEWSLINE has sought to acquire more information in that regard as well as to ascertain what the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) plans to do about it.

Additionally, Minister Brandy-Williams stated that the landfill was into its 15 year, although it was built to only last for 12 years.

In light of this, we spoke with Operations Manager at the NSWMA, Mr. Rudy Browne, who gave this information.

However, what is the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) or the Management Authority seeking to do, to rectify the issue? To date, what has been done? In response, Mr. Browne said that the NIA is in the process of searching for land.
