NIA “still waiting on quantity surveys” to be conducted on Alexandra Hospital’s expansion project
“What is the status of the Alexandra Hospital wing expansion project?” That question was posed to the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Mark Brantley, during his press conference on Aug. 29th. This was his response.
Premier, the Hon. Mark Brantley. Quantity Surveyors estimate and control costs for large construction projects. They make sure that structures meet legal and quality standards.
The $19 million project, which will see a new wing of more than 60,000 square feet added to the existing building, will include a physiotherapy wing, pediatric isolation wing, laboratory wing, operating theatre and radiology wing.
The project is jointly by the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation (SIDF) and the Nevis Island Administration (NIA). A ground-breaking ceremony on the grounds of the Alexandra Hospital on May 31st 2017, paved the way for construction. Based on figures from the NIA, the total expenditure for the project is about $17.2 million.
