The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) is currently undergoing negotiations in an effort to start an enlargement and transformation project on the Vance Amory International Airport with private investor, Mr. Patrick Drahi, by way of a Public Private Partnership.
This was announced by Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley during his monthly press conference:
The project is said to include: the extension and reinforcing of the runway, creation of additional parking and a fixed-base operator and a hanger. The investor would be financing the construction aspect and upon completion of the project, the NIA through the Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority (NASPA) will continue to pay and remain responsible for staffing the facility.
