Monday December 5th 2022 was nomination day on Nevis.
This comes following the dissolution of the Nevis Island Assembly on Friday November 25th, which paved the way for the next local elections on the island.
Nominations for duly qualified candidates to contest this election took place between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 2 and 4 p.m.; on Monday Dec. 5th and was attended to by its Returning Officer. Candidates were nominated by at least two voters who are registered in the constituency in which the candidate seeks election.
The Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) and the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) (the two main political parties on Nevis), have each had their Candidates nominated (5 each) as they are vying for the five seats on the island. However, the VONNEWSLINE has been reliably informed that the MRM will field two Candidates. So far, no independents have been confirmed.
