One Island, Many Cultures: Nevis Multicultural Heritage Festival Showcases its Global Cultural Diversity

Nevis is on the verge of one of its biggest events that features the widely vast cultures that make it a melting pot. The Nevis Multi-Cultural Heritage Festival is set for (this Saturday) May 30th, at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park, beginning at 12:00 p.m.

 

Organizers say the festival continues to expand, attracting growing participation from local and international communities. This year’s event will feature representatives from St. Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, The Philippines, several African nations, as well as first-time participants India and Japan.

 

This annual affair will be hosted by Nevis’ Department of Community Development.  In a media appearance, Acting Director, Ms. Denesia Smithen spoke about the purpose of the event:

 

 

Patrons can expect cultural performances, national wear displays, games and a wide range of traditional foods, including Trinidadian doubles, Grenadian oil down, Guyanese pepper-pot, African jollof rice, Filipino spring rolls as well as adobo chicken and much more.
