The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) advises the public and businesses across the Federation to remain vigilant ahead of and during this year’s Music Festival.
In a recent release, the police said when accepting US dollar banknotes, take a moment to feel the note as genuine US currency has a distinctive texture and raised printing that counterfeit notes often lack. Check security features, look for the watermark, embedded security thread, and colour-shifting ink on the denomination numeral.
Additionally, compare any suspicious note against one you know to be genuine, Exercise extra caution with large-denomination notes and train your staff to ensure that everyone handling cash knows the basic security features of US currency before the Festival begins.
The notice also included festival tickets fraud. To protect yourself from ticket fraud, persons are asked to purchase tickets only from authorized vendors and official sales outlets. Do not buy tickets from unknown individuals, unofficial online resellers, or strangers at the gate, verify electronic tickets through official event channels before attending, lookout for tickets offered at unusually low or discounted prices.
However, the police is encouraging the public who may know of individuals committing such fraud to contact the nearest police station or call the emergency line at 911 immediately.
