Police updates nation on 11th murder for 2024, investigations ongoing

Police are investigating the shooting death of Elston Estridge of Conaree Village, St. Kitts. The incident occurred on Thursday April 18th, at John Street, Newtown, St. Kitts, between 1:30PM and 2PM.

 

 

 

Lawmen observed Mr. Estridge, 38, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds about the body, after responding to the scene. He was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Estridge was accosted by an armed assailant who fled the scene afterwards.

 

 

 

The Crime Scene Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police (RSCNPF) processed the scene and collected some items of evidential value. The shooting incident was the third to have occurred in Newtown for the April 14th to April 20th week and the 3rd to take place in the space of about 17 hours (from 9pm Wednesday April 17th to 2pm Thursday April 18th). Prior to this, an 18-year old male was gunned down on April 17th, then a non-fatal shooting incident occurred in Cayon, resulting in one man warded at the JNF General Hospital. At present, the Federation’s murder toll is 11 for the year.
