Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley extends condolences upon the assassination of former Prime Minister of Japan 

Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley has extended condolences upon hearing the assassination of Japan’s Former Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. 

 

Mr. Brantley was quoted as saying “shocked to hear of the barbaric act of violence against former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe. Prime Minister Abe was a great friend of Latin America and the Caribbean. We in Nevis extend deepest condolences to his family and to the beautiful people of Japan.” 

 

Japan’s former Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe died in a hospital after he was shot at a political campaign event early Friday Morning. The alleged shooter, aged 41 is now in police custody.  

 

Mr. Brantley, during his capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Mr. Abe and his wife Akie Abe in Japan for the Ceremony of Enthronement of 112th royal leader of Japan Emperor, Naruhito in Tokyo, Japan in 2019. 

 

Shinzo Abe was the longest serving Prime Minister of Japan.
