Residents Urged to Make Health Monitoring a ‘Priority’
Residents Urged to Make Health Monitoring a ‘Priority’

Residents of Nevis are being urged to take a more active role in monitoring their health, with kidney disease prevention as the main topic on last week’s Health Talk programme on VON Radio.
Host of the program, Dr. Glenville Liburd told listeners that individuals should not wait for symptoms before checking their health, noting that some conditions that damage the kidneys, can remain silent until advanced stages. He stressed that prevention depends on regular monitoring and working closely with healthcare professionals.
Liburd encouraged residents to maintain personal health journals:
He continued by urging residents to learn their family medical history and pursue appropriate screening, particularly where hereditary conditions may be involved.
Dr. Liburd also spoke positively on the new Dialysis Centre that is currently been constructed and stated that it will be beneficial to patients that have to traverse to St. Kitts for dialysis treatment.
Further, he stressed on prevention methods and encouraged residents to understand their bodies, monitor their health and seek professional guidance when necessary.
