Samuel O. Powell School of Music on Nevis to hold a 6-week Fife Training Workshop
Samuel O. Powell School of Music on Nevis to hold a 6-week Fife Training Workshop
The Samuel O. Powell School of Music on Nevis will be engaging in a 6-week
Fife Training Workshop which is expected to teach both children and adults
to play the Fife.
The fife is a wind instrument played by many greats on the island, such as the
late David Freeman. The workshop will commence on Saturday October 19th,
and every Saturday thereafter from 1-4pm at Market Shop in Gingerland.
The VON Newsline caught up with Fife Workshop Facilitator, Vinelle Powell
who shared her inspiration behind the initiative:
Ms. continued by saying “basic music lessons would also be taught during this workshop and give members a greater appreciation for our culture as discipline and other values are needed for success”.
She also told the VON Newsline the aim of the workshop:
Registration fee is thirty EC dollars and members will be given their own Fife. For More information, call (869) 668-4199.
