Seven women on the island of Nevis were awarded for their service and accomplishments acquired in their respective fields. The individuals were recognized during the Department of Gender Affairs’ Dinner & Awards Ceremony held on Saturday, March 25th, 2023.

The categories and respective awardees for Saturday’s event were: Women in Science- Dr. Kamara Louisy, Digital Economy – Dianna Browne, Blue Economy – Melissa Allen, Green Economy – Kenisha Lewis, Orange/Creative Economy- Tamicia Lestrade, Women in Non-Traditional Role- Kimberly Lazarus and the Minister’s special award for the Protection and Empowerment of women and families – Deslyn Johnson.

Furthermore, two persons who are in association with the department were appointed as official Gender Champions 2023-2024 for their work in empowering persons in the community. Gaining the honor of Male Gender Champion was Dr. Tivon Browne and Female Gender Champion was Krystan Springette
