In an update about the shark attack incident that occurred on Saturday, January 9th, the VONNEWSLINE was informed that the individual was flown out of the Federation for additional treatment overseas.
The individual has undergone Surgery and is said to be in a stable condition.
The incident is reported to have occurred in the vicinity of the locally named “Booby Island”.
Reports also indicate that a group of individuals were kayaking in the area.
As a consequence of the shark attack, the Department of Marine Resources of St. Kitts and Nevis is said to be “experiencing an increase in the reports of shark and human interactions within our exclusive economic zone.”
The Department is asking all users of the ocean to be extremely cautious when using the marine environment.
