International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) was observed on May 4th, 2021 in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Firefightersday.org says the observance was instituted after a proposal was emailed out across the world on January 4th 1999, due to the deaths of five firefighters in tragic circumstances in a wildfire at Linton in Victoria, Australia.
The observance is also a time where the world’s community can recognize and honour the sacrifices that firefighters make.
