SKN Entrepreneur awarded $US 10,000 for Green Startup

Local Entrepreneur, Jermain Mike has been selected as an awardee of $US 10,000 as part of a regional Greenpreneurs Business Plan Competition held in the region.

Mr. Mike is one of nine that has been awarded monies from the competition organized by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

His start-up named “Mother Becky Tea”, named after his great-grand mother, uses local ingredients and local recipes to brew nutritional bush teas.

The competition, according to oecs.org, “was a culmination of a 12-week green business incubator training, which is part of the Eastern Caribbean Greenpreneurs Incubator programme…

The Incubator programme was designed to support green enterprises through virtual training by providing mentorship and networking opportunities.”

The Business Plan Competition provided the opportunity to demonstrate their growth through the Incubator Programme and to compete for grant awards.

Fifteen entrepreneurs participated in the competition and the top nine were selected by the judges.
